Our "Grow Your Own Dinner" project is underway! We received help from our maintenance worker Antonio to help us prepare our garden space and we have planted a variety of plants including tomatoes, green peppers, lettuce, onions, potatoes, beans, strawberries and watermelons. The weather has been very nice (around 20ºC) and it's looking good. The students ask if we can go to the garden every day!

In February 2009 we started our school garden. At first it didn't look like much – just a dry plot of land with lots of little stones and weeds. But by the month of June it was full of tall plants that gave a surprising amount of fruits and vegetables. We grew potatoes, onions, tomatoes, peppers, eggplants, cucumbers, strawberries, watermelons, and of course, runner beans!

Before we started, there was nothing but a dry plot of land, some markers and a scarecrow.
