Harvesting 17.9.09

Gardening club harvested some of our produce which had grown very well over our holidays. Sam (year 6 and gardening club) and his mum helped by watering our plants over the summer holidays together with some of our teachers. However we had so much rain that we didn’t have to come in often!

Harvesting carrots.
Try not to pull up the leaks they need to be harvested in March to celebrate Saint David’s day.

Big juicy carrots but some funny shapes.

Oh dear this one hasn’t grown!

Look at this one, do you think we’ve grown the biggest carrot in Europe!
Has anyone got a bigger one?

The wind blew down our wigwam of runner beans. We are going to try and save it but our runner bean harvest will not be as plentiful as we hoped. There are lots more flowers growing which should have meant a bumper crop. Are the unseasonable high winds a factor of climate change?
