In Italy, we had the tasting  of our allotment’s products on 11th June 2009.
It was a big party, with about 500 people: pupils, teachers, parents and grandparents.
First we have harvested the wheat, then the pupils accompanied their relatives to visit our vegetable garden and the exposition about it into the school.
inally, in the school garden, we had a big dinner with simple and cold foods realized with the same vegetables that we have cultivated in our allotment. It was very tasty!
Many thanks to all the people, parents, grandparents  and the cook staff, who helped us in growing the vegetables and cooking the food!

Panzanella
Ingredients: stale bread, tomatoes, cucumber, celery, basil, onion, olive oil, salt
Preparation: Wet the stale bread in water, wring it and add the tomatoes, the cucumber, the celery, the basil and the onions cut in little pieces. Season with olive oil and salt.

Cold tricoloured pasta - Pasta fredda tricolore
Ingredients: pasta, salt, olive oil, mozzarella cheese, tomatoes, basil
Preparation: Boil the pasta in salt water, drain it, season by olive oil and let it cold. Add little cubes of mozzarella cheese and tomatoes and little pieces of basil. Season with salt and olive oil.
This food has the same colours of Italian flag.

Salad of spelt - Insalata di farro
Ingredients: spelt, beans (variety “cannellini” and “borlotti”) tomatoes, onions, basil
Preparation: Boil the spelt in salt water, drain it, season by olive oil and let it cold. Add the boiled beans, the tomatoes and the onions cut in little cubes and the basil. Season with olive oil and salt.

Croutons with green sauce - Crostoni alla salsa verde
Ingredients: bread, parsley, bread crumb, hard boiled eggs, capers, anchovy paste, garlic, vinegar, olive oil. Preparation: Wet the bread crumb in the vinegar and wring it. Prepare the green sauce mincing and mixing all the ingredients, then spread the sauce on slices of bread.
This sauce is very good also with boiled meat.

Croutons with rocket - Crostoni alla rucola
Ingredients: rocket, stracchino cheese, bread
Preparation: Mince the rocket and mix it with the stracchino cheese.
Spread on slices of bread.

Croutons with tomatoes - Crostoni al pomodoro
Ingredients: bread, tomatoes, basil, salt, olive oil
Preparation: cut the tomatoes in little cubes, mix them with the basil and season with oilve oil and salt. Spread the mixture on slices of bread.

Schiacciate with vegetables
Made by the baker with not rise dough for bread, seasoned with salt and olive oil and different kinds of vegetables:
- Schiacciata with tomatoes and oregano
- Schiacciata with potatoes and rosemary
- Schiacciata with courgettes and tomatoes
