Celebration meal |
|
Spain |
|
After we grew
different fruits and vegetables in our school garden, we prepared a
number of different dishes to celebrate.
We used our potatoes to make a Spanish omelette, and we used different
vegetables to make a garden salad, gazpacho and a big Spanish paella.
|
A Spanish omelette is a traditional dish
here in Andalusia. We call it “tortilla de patatas”.
To make this traditional dish you have to
mix potatoes, onions, olive oil, eggs and salt. The secret to making a
great one is learning how to flip it over, something which Andalusian
people have changed into an artform. Here is a Spanish omelette made
with potatoes from our garden. Simple but delicious! |

Some of our students made a traditional
drink called “gazpacho”. It's made of tomato, peppers, onions, olive oil
and a touch of vinegar and salt.
Our student Bea made some and brought it in for the class to share. A
refreshing way to beat the heat. |

Finally, we had a special celebration for
the whole school community where everyone enjoyed an enormous paella, a
traditional Spanish dish.

Students, parents and grandeparents came
to school on a Saturday to enjoy a delicious paella and celebrate
together. On this day the school organized a number of special events to
promote living a healthy lifestyle, including a charity footrace,
football and basketball games and aerobics. After exercising, the school
community sat down together to a traditional Spanish paella. |
