Lettuce
The first thing that was ready for
picking was the lettuce. |
|
Every student in class 6C took a head of
lettuce home to make their own garden salad. |
This salad was made using the lettuce
from our school garden. Delicious!
|
Potatoes
We also planted potatoes and used them to
make a traditional Andalusian dish, the “tortilla de patatas”, or
Spanish omelette.
Every student in class 6A took home a
potato to use to make their own Spanish omelette. If you want to know
how to make one for yourself, just look at the recipe on the Comenius
web page. It's simple, healthy and delicious! |
|
Onions
Here we are with our onions. They made us
cry! We used them in our salad, in our Spanish omelette and to make
gazpacho. |
|
|
Tomatoes |
You can see our tomatoes to the left of
this picture. They started out small but soon grew very tall. We put up
bamboo poles to help support them.
Our tomatoes grew and ripened. When they
were red, we picked them and took them home. We used them to make
salads, gazpacho and paella. |
|
Peppers
Our green pepper plants grew tall and
gave a lot of vegetables. We used them to make gazpacho, a traditional
Spanish summer drink. |
|
|
Other fruits and vegetables
We also grew strawberries, watermelon,
cucumbers, eggplants and runner beans in our garden. In the end we were
surprised by how well everything grew and proud of our work. We had a
great time going to the garden to work, water, play and reap the fruits
of our labour. |

|
We made a special display in our school
office featuring the products of our garden and showing pictures of our
students eating a Spanish omelette, something we made with our potatoes.
