Friday meals
Most people in Poland are
Christians, the vast majority of whom are Catholics. One of the
rules of the religion is to refrain from eating meat on Fridays.
On this day people often have fish for dinner: fried fillets,
fish fingers and herring in cream with jacket potatoes, which is
known in the Kashuby region as ‘pulki ze śledziami.’ Other
Friday meals include pancakes, potato cakes, fried eggs, pasta
with cottage cheese and sour cream with sugar, or pierogis with
mashed potatoes and cottage cheese. |
