The Forgiveness festival - Il Perdono

In Rignano sull’Arno,in the last week of September, there is the Forgiveness festival, a very ancient festival with religious origin. In the streets of the village there are a lot of stalls with cakes and goods, it’s the fair. Behind the schools there is a funfair for five days. We, the children, are very happy and when we go around the streets the smell of the croccante (almond brittle) and of Brigidini (aniseed biscuits) makes our mouth water. While we are on the carousels we hear many mixed music and there is a big confusion, so we enjoy ourselves a lot!
During the Forgiveness festival, in the stadium there is the fair of the livestock. The breeders bring a lot of animals and we can see close to them. There are cows, bulls, goats, eagles, hens... We went to see them and they smell a little, but they are very beautiful. We like most the calf who was sucking milk, the horses, the hawks and the eagles.
The festival ends on Tuesday with the fireworks. They are wonderful! The fireworks are at 11 pm, so we are happy to go to bed so late!
The festival is just finished and we are already waiting for the Forgiveness festival of the next year!
