Beet Green Soup |
Ingredients:
a bunch of young green beetroots
one spoonful of salt, one spoonful of sugar, juice of a half of
a lemon,
a piece of ribs (not necessary)
two spoonfuls of cream (or milk)
(optionally: three or four spoonfuls of instant beetroot soup)

Boil the piece of ribs before
putting into the soup.
Wash the young beet greens carefully (remove all the sand form
roots and leaves).
Cut them into small pieces and put into a pot with water.
Put the ribs, salt, sugar and juice of a half of a lemon and
boil everything for 30 minutes.

When the soup is ready you can put three or four spoonfuls of
instant beetroot soup to intensify the flavour.
Add the cream and halved hard-boiled egg if you wish. |

Birthday cakes
Whenever a child celebrates his or her birthday and their
parents throw a party, whether for family members or for
friends, there is a birthday cake.
Birthday cakes come in all sorts of forms. Traditionally these
are cakes with layers of sponge cake and cream. They are
decorated nicely and there are also candles to be blown by the
birthday boy or girl. Favourite flavours of torty (the Polish
name for layer cakes) are chocolate and strawberry ones.
In the summer the sponge cake is sometimes replaced by a
meringue base layered with whipped cream and summer fruit
(blackberries, raspberries or strawberries).
The newest trend in birthday cakes is not a layer cake (tort),
but a cake with a Barbie doll. You’ll find the recipe below. |
Recipe for the Barbie cake
Cake:
Two eggs
Half glass of sugar
Half glass of flour
One teaspoon of baking powder
Cream:
Six yolks
Two slabs of butter (500g)
Two teaspoons of castor sugar
First combine and blend the eggs with sugar and baking powder
for about 15 minutes and then add half a glass of flour. Place
the mixture in the greased high cake tin sprinkled with fine
breadcrumbs. Set the oven at 150 ºC and bake the cake for one
hour.
Blend the yolks with butter and castor sugar until the cream is
smooth. Add a desired food colouring and chill.
Place the Barbie doll in the well of the cake. Cover the cake
with cream and decorate it as desired. |
