tempo al posto della chiesa c’era un castello sulla cima della collina.
La chiesa di S. Cristoforo in Perticaia risale probabilmente
all’undicesimo secolo.

Inside
there is a triptych, attributed to Cenni di Francesco, that represents the
Madonna, Child Jesus, S. Cristoforo and S. Margherita who crushes the head
of the wolf, which represents
the evil. The Perticaia name is of longobard origins, in fact in that place there was a longobard settlement. |

Longobards
used to put a long stick, called “pertica” on every tomb of the
cemetery. In 1997, cardinal Joseph Ratzinger, who is now the pope Benedetto XVI, celebrated mass in the restored S. Cristoforo church. When we went in the church, a monk received us and explained the origins of the church. Then he took us to a library and he explained how the books are bound. |
