Project summary

In September 2003 in Tornio Finland in the preparing meeting we discussed about the project that will last for three years. At the first year the theme is the traditional games. At the second year the theme is the selfmade learning games. And the last year the goal is to collect the material for the book that includes the games and the learning games of the different partnercountries.
The Comenius project will start by collecting the traditional and regional games together with the pupils, their parents and even grandparents. The project work will be carried out in almost every school subjects which automatically extracts active participation of the pupils.
The goal on the project is to add the social growth, understanding of the other cultures, and to reduce teasing. Even the multicultural education is an important part of the project.
During the project the pupils and the teachers communicate and exchange the gameinstructions and experiences via new technology: internet, video, digitalphotos etc. Documentation and evaluation help us all to analyse the progress of the Comenius project. The activities will even be measured by special project-related questionnaires which the partnerteachers plan together. By playing games of the partner countries pupils learn  different languages.
In the project meeting the teachers increase their knowledge about the partnerschools´ educational system and pedagogical methods. The teachers evaluate and improve the contents of the project.
