The Gingerbread man

Noi, ragazzi delle classi quarte della Scuola Primaria di Rignano, alla fine dell’anno scolastico, abbiamo letto ed interpretato in classe, insieme alla nostra insegnante di inglese, la storia di “THE GINGERBREAD MAN” cioè “L’uomo di pan di zenzero”. Ci siamo molto divertiti nell’interpretare i personaggi e così abbiamo voluto concludere l’anno, scrivendo al computer il racconto fatto in classe per mostrarlo ai genitori all’Open Day. Lo abbiamo scritto in inglese, ma vi faremo un breve riassunto in italiano.
In una casetta nel bosco, viveva una vecchia signora con suo marito. Un giorno, dopo aver messo a cuocere un biscotto di pan di zenzero a forma di pupazzo, sentì chiedere aiuto. La voce proveniva dal forno. Lei subito lo aprì, ed il pupazzo svelto svelto scappò perché non voleva essere mangiato. Ma per la strada incontrò un cane e poi un gatto, ed anche loro volevano mangiarselo. Arrivato vicino ad un torrente incontrò una volpe che, furba come al solito, lo invitò a salire su di lei per attraversarlo. Ingenuamente il Gingerbread Man si fidò di lei, che lo fece avvicinare alla sua bocca e se lo mangiò.

SCENE 1 NARRATOR: There’s an old woman and an old man in the kitchen. MAN: I’m hungry. WOMAN: I’m making a gingerbread biscuit, a little Gingerbread Man. MAN: Look! He’s got a head , two arms and two legs. WOMAN: And he’s got two eyes, a nose and a mouth.
SCENE 2 NARRATOR: The Gingerbread Man is in the oven. G: Help! Help! Let me out! MAN: Open the oven door! G: Aha! Now I can run away from you! WOMAN: Stop! Stop! Come here! ALL: Run, run , as fast as you can. You can’t catch me, I’m the Gingerbread Man.

	SCENE 3 NARRATOR: The Gingerbread Man runs and runs. He meets a dog. DOG: Woof! Woof! I’m hungry and I like gingerbread biscuits. WOMAN: Stop! Stop! Come here! G: I can run away from the old woman and the old man. I can run away from the dog, I can. ALL: Run, run, as fast as you can. You can’t catch me, I’m the Gingerbread Man. SCENE 4 NARRATOR: The Gingerbread Man runs and runs. He meets a cat . CAT: Miaow! Miaow! I’m hungry and I like gingerbread biscuits. DOG: Woof! Woof ! WOMAN: Stop! Stop! Come here! G: I can run away from the old woman, the old man and the dog. I can run away from the cat, I can. ALL: Run, run, as you can. You can’t catch me, I’m the Gingerbread Man.
SCENE 5 NARRATOR: The Gingerbread Man meets a fox next to a river: G: Oh no! I can’t swim. FOX: I can swim. Jump on my tail!
	G: Ok, Mr Fox. Oh no, your tail’s in the water! FOX: Jump on my head! G: Ok, Mr Fox. Oh no, your head’s in the water!
FOX: Quick, jump on my nose! G: Ok, Mr Fox.
	FOX: Now I can eat you! Munch! G: Oh, no! Help! FOX: Goodbye, Gingerbread Man. ALL: And that is the end of the Gingerbread Man.
